Silk was actually born in Fredericton (New Brunswick), Canada. Silk is the daughter of Peter who was an academic and Ilkay Silk, a prominent actress, director, producer, educator, playwright and director of drama at St. Thomas University. The earliest memories of Anna included going to rehearsals, and then watching her mother perform. Silk was a part of a variety of commercials while she was young. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Arts in 1997 from St. Thomas University in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas produced at least two early productions: Seven Menus, and The Kitchen. Silk started her career in acting when she moved to Toronto Canada at the end of November in 1999. She then moved from Toronto to Los Angeles for the remainder of that decade. Seth Cooperman is her future husband, who she first discovered at a workshop in Los Angeles at an Actors Workshop in 2007. The couple got engaged in 2009 and married in a civil wedding ceremony in December. They renewed their vows on April 10, 2011, in Fredericton in the aftermath of their was converted to Judaism.
